Many adult webmasters get their start in this industry by building and submitting thumbnail galleries. It's easy to do, requires minimal technical skills, and the startup costs are low. There are thousands of TGPs in every conceivable niche to submit your galleries to, and with auto submission software you can easily submit to hundreds of TGPs a day!
A thumbnail gallery is a single page consisting of 10-20 images with thumbnails. The recommended number of images to use on your gallery is 15-16. A movie gallery consists of 2-10 video clips – the typical number being 3-6 clips. Generally you want to aim for at least 60 seconds of video, so you could have three 20-second clips, four 15-second clips or six 10-second clips.
There should be no more than 2-3 links to your sponsor. Any more than that is overdoing it, and some TGPs won't list galleries with too many outgoing links. Use a combination of banners and text links for maximum click-through. Your gallery should also have some well-written sales text to entice the surfer to click through to the sponsor tour.
Most TGPs require a reciprocal link ("recip") to be placed on the gallery. In that case, the gallery should have 3-4 recip links at the very top of the page. A handful of TGPs prefer that their recip be the only one on the page. The placing of reciprocal links on your gallery will be handled by your TGP submission software, so no need to worry about this.
At the very bottom of the page should be a link to the 18 U.S.C. §2257 compliance statement for the content in your gallery. If you're using sponsor content, you can link to the sponsor's 2257 statement page. Otherwise, you'll need to create a page on your website with the 2257 compliance statement and link to that. The link text should have language similar to "18 U.S.C. 2257 Record-Keeping Requirements Compliance Statement" or at the very least "USC 2257."
Keep your gallery design simple. Don't feel that you must use snazzy graphics or a unique design for every page. In fact, quite the opposite is true. You're more likely to get listed on The Hun with a simple, low graphics template than with a professional, graphic-heavy design. Conversely, don't use the exact same template on every gallery. Vary the design a little bit. Create several templates for each sponsor with a different color scheme and layout, for example.
Your page should be able to fit in an 800x600 window with no horizontal scroll. Set the width attribute in your top level table tag to no more than 750 pixels. None of your links should open in new pages – don't use the target="_blank" attribute in your anchor tags! The file extension of your page should be html or htm. Avoid using php, shtml, etc.
Here are some other important standards to observe. You'll find a list similar to this on nearly every TGP's submit page. Disregard these, and your gallery probably won't get listed. In fact, you could end up getting blacklisted.
- No javascript, flash, java, or scripting of any kind on your gallery.
- No IFRAME tags.
- No misleading links or thumbs.
- Thumbs should link directly to the image or video file.
- Don't even think of using popups, dialers, auto downloads, etc.
- Language that suggests underage content should be avoided: lolita, young, etc.
- Rape, scat and bestiality should be avoided in general.
Go to your favorite TGP (I suggest the Hun) and take a look at the layout and source code for several of the galleries listed. Avoid sponsor hosted galleries, as they are the exception to the rule. Note how the elements are arranged on the page, and how CSS can be used to style the gallery. Note the use of sales text to attract the surfer's attention. (Unlike many other webmasters, you will use spell check, right?)
Please don't steal another webmaster's gallery design. Create your own designs, so you can become more experienced at building adult websites. Practice makes perfect.
